What No One Told Me About Becoming a Mom
It wasn’t what I expected.
Not the kind of motherhood I had seen splashed across social media. Not the Pinterest-perfect nurseries or the carefully filtered milestones. No one told me it would be this kind of magic. The kind that lives in everyday moments no one else sees.
Moments like the 11PM snuggles that soften even the hardest days. The way they call for “mama” like it’s the safest word in the world. The way their little hands reach for mine with complete trust and no hesitation.
Motherhood didn’t just shift my routine. It rewired something inside me. It slowed me down in places I used to rush. It sharpened what mattered and gently faded what didn’t. It brought a level of presence I didn’t know I was missing.
But in that stillness, something else stirred. Something I hadn’t expected.
A quiet nudge. A whisper that said there is more than this.
More than the meetings stacked back to back. More than asking for time off to tend to fevers and field trips. More than squeezing myself into systems that never quite fit. And for a while, I pushed that whisper down. Because wasn’t I supposed to just be grateful?
But what I’ve come to understand is this. You can love your children fiercely and still want more for yourself.
More space to breathe. More flexibility to be present and still be creative. More ways to contribute, to build, to grow, without having to justify your dreams or explain your ambition.
If you’ve felt that pull, that ache for a different rhythm, you’re not selfish. You’re not ungrateful. You’re just a woman who is evolving.
I didn’t plan on becoming a mother. My pregnancy came as a surprise, right in the middle of a global pandemic. Everything was already upside down. The world was in lockdown. My work life was chaotic. And I was still grinding away, frustrated at how broken the corporate structure felt when suddenly everything had to be done from home.
Then came a baby. And with her, an even bigger shift.
It cracked open every part of me I thought I had figured out.
The career path I had worked so hard for began to feel like it belonged to someone else. The pace I used to keep felt impossible to return to. My identity as a high achiever, a go-getter, an always-on woman began to unravel. But in its place, something more aligned began to form.
And I started wondering, what if this isn’t a breakdown?
What if this is the beginning of something better?
Something softer, but no less powerful. Something slower, but more intentional. A life that honors both who I was before motherhood and who I’m becoming now.
If you’re nodding along, if you’ve felt that same pull for something that fits who you are now, I want you to know this.
You are not alone.
You’re not behind. You’re not doing it wrong. You’re just awakening to a new chapter.
If you’re craving a space that celebrates the version of you who is both mother and entrepreneur, I’d love to welcome you into the community I’ve built. It’s made for women who are building something meaningful in between school runs and snack breaks. Women who want clarity, creativity, and connection without the constant noise of hustle culture.
We’re not just building businesses. We’re rebuilding ourselves.
Your next chapter doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s. But you don’t have to walk into it alone.
What’s your story?
